Performance Task

For our performance task we had to create two images that show different sides of us.  For the first image I'm sitting in-front of our front window of my house showing the light behind everything you do in life.  Not knowing what is behind something can scare some people.  For my second image I'm sitting in a corner of the room with all the lights of showing the things that people are scared of and don't want to over come.  These images are both completely different but that same all at once.  They create the fear that people have of life.

Mentor

I chose this photographer because I like the way that he thinks and adjusts his photos.  Erwin Blumenfeld was born in Berlin, Germany on the 26th of January 1897.  He sadly died at the age of 71, in Rome Italy on the 4th January 1969. Blumenfeld was of Jewish descent.  He was the middle child of 3.  His family was his parents Albert Blumenfeld and Emma Blumenfeld, his younger brother Heinz and his older sister Annie. He received his first camera in 1908.  When i first saw this image I was surprised as I wasn't expecting anything like this.  I was wondering how he actually created this image.  I love the detail in the lines that separate this image in half.  I also like how  this image is equal, in terms of the top has more open spacing but it also has the head,  the bottom doesn't have that much detail in it but there isn't as much space in and around the body. This image I don't really have anything I dislike but some of his other photo, there are certain things that I don't really like.

I think that the main element that my photographer used was lines.  As this was one of the main features that people looked at when viewing his photo.  I think the he also used colour, even though his image is black and white I believe him using this created some more added detail in the two lines that cross over her face.  When I tried to recreate this image the main thing for me was trying to get the face looking the same way.  I didn't really try to use any stand out techniques.  I did try to make my subject sit in the same way so that the spacing above the half way line and below matched the amount that is left in the in the actual image.  This image I don't think was inspired any historic event but I do believe that something that happened in his life, but what I'm not 100% sure on.

The rest of my series are all just a body part.  I just changed the design and the way that the lines intersected the image.  I believe that what I did recreated the images well.  When I tried to recreate them that hardest part was moving the area in Photoshop as it sometimes left areas blank.

Silk Screen

I found this location when I was sat down at the back of the school.  There is a hole in the wall.  I was interest what was in there, I put the camera of the ledge and took the photo.  I was amazed when I saw it.  I thought it would be nice image to use for silk screen.  It really shows that there are sometimes greater things in life that we cant see until we try.

PhotoGram

For my photo gram I decided to create a image of a hand T-Shirt over a ruler.  I thought that this image was cool because it is original and abstract.  The image doesn't really create anything.  I just thought everything on the page created someone amazing.

Inspiration

My inspiration in photography is David Lloyd.  I love the work that he does and thinking about how long it must take him to get his photo is incredible.  I find his passion for photography amazing, as you can't just tell an animal to stay or go where you need it, like you can with a person.  Some of the images that he captures really opens your eyes to world we live in.  http://davidlloyd.net/galleries/recent/  

Renaissance

Renaissance

The Renaissance is an era in history where the art created in Italy is absolutely amazing.  The Renaissance started in the fourteenth century and ending around seventeenth century . The art created during this period has inspired us look for insight from the past. Giving us something that we would want to recreate, so help show the work from the past.  The Renaissance has brought us many different things that we still use in art today. Oil paintings, the most used thing in the Renaissance era, oil paintings are still popular to this day.  There were two other main painting techniques used in the Renaissance.  Fresco is where the painting and the wall become one thing. This is done when pigments and water are mixed and added to wet plaster.  The best part  of doing this is that the painting is durable. Tempera was also used, because it was a durable paint created by mixing egg and pigments. This became artist medium choice after the oil paintings were picked up in Italy.

My artist was very important to the Renaissance as he has created some of the best pieces of work from that time period. Da Vinci has created many well known painting, with the likes of John the Baptist and the Mona Lisa. This is why I feel that my artist was important to the Renaissance Era.

The painting I chose is the Mona Lisa. This is one of the most well known painting in the world. It was created in 1503-1506. This painting is made using oil paints. This painting is located at Musee du Louvre, Paris. I thought that this image would be good to do for this project as its well known and looks amazing.

Painting With Light

I chose to do as my painting with light a I feel that this needed more in society.  People today more then most only think about themselves and no one else.  Sometimes smiling to someone could mean the world to them as they may not be as luck as we are.  I heard this message in video I just felt that this needs to be seen more of today.

Breaking The Rules

For my breaking the rules photos.  I chose to break simplicity and balance.  The first image of the basketball with the everything going off in the background breaks the simplicity aspect of a photo.  The final two images both break balance.  The first one of the sky and the building, breaks the rule as there is nothing in the top half of the image.  The other of the wall ans sign also break as the sign is far to one side with nothing the middle.

Gel

For my gel transfer I decided to take a photo of the fence out near the track.  After printing the photo I put around 10-12  layers of glue over the image.  After I washed the paper of the back.  This is what the result was.

Studio Lighting

These are my studio lighting photos.  The one on top is my 2:1 ration lighting picture. Then the bottom two are my messing around photos. The second one I put all light sources on the left hand side to make his right side glow up. In the final photo I had a light source on all angles making his face harder to see fut his hair being one of the main parts of the picture.

Multiple

I think that capturing someone walking up the stairs created a great looking photo as you can see the steps that some has to take to over come something in there life. I think that it has great meaning to the photo.

Mixed Lighting

This photo was taken from a straight on angle, the bricks in the background show this. I used the reflector to shine a golden glow onto his left side of his face. The sun shining down on the right side of his face created a dark shadow.
